Its been a while since I last updated my blog.
Fasting month is over and its been a struggle of the flesh. “ The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”. Now I fully understand why they say that some Muslims really have to stuff themselves during the Sahur cause of the reason that they are working for the next hours and doing minimal labor is tiring enough how much more for people who are really doing manual labor, exposed under the heat of the sun.
Even those who are Muslims working in the hospital are so lethargic and seems to be very tired. Imagine sponging patient, run here and walk there, lift them, to add more to injury is that the ward isn’t aircon cause its class “C”. No wonder during break time they would have to really rest and don’t talk much.
As for me, yah, I didn’t finish fasting whole day on each of the 31 days, I cant even used up all the fingers of my hand, toes of my feet to count the number of days Ive completed. He he he, I managed to fast only 9 days!! Most of the days, half day, especially when I have work from 8am to 9pm. But el bebe is proud of me, at least I finish 9 days, then she said say shell give $9 for it (1 day=$1) . So generous of her….I told her, ok I owe 21 days and I got 359 days to finish it. Well not bad but must complete before the next Saum.
I still don’t know whether by next fasting month, I am teaching but enshallah before my contract finishes I can find work which is less stressful. Well, I guess I have to find out next year.
It’s a wonderful experience, you’re focus on the one whole month, then after that, celebration!!! Its like Christmas as they say for Christian, although I stop celebrating the occasion when I reach the point of understanding the history of it. But the remarkable and similarity from the two faith during each others festive season is that they visit relatives, make amends from all the mistakes, shortcomings, and some would just appreciate and be happy on the occasion of having and seeing each of other, exchanging smile, eat (the sambal goreng of el bebes mum), laughing, sharing story, and Im sure the little ones always look forward is the monetary gifts that senior relatives give to them.
I enjoy celebrating this year of Ramadan. No wonder Muslims always look forward into it and of course me too..
